Rare sabre Canes

One of the Canes is light, fine grained, made from a Sephen ray tail, a ray from the Red see, and worked in the way of galuchat [1]. The other one is made from a Manta ray tail; it is dark brown, the skin is coarse-grained, presenting wide bumps. The shape of the two Canes is typical. The inside is made of a steel rod. The knobs are made of ivory, worked in the shape of the highest part of the tail, hooded up in silver. |

[1] Galuchat: we should write Galluchat, from the name of the master leather-worker in the fifteenth century, to whom we owe the technique of the shark and ray skin preparation, originating from the Red see, the Indian ocean or the China sea. Source Larousse Paris, 1931.
