High Cane known as the head of Saint-Just, sculpted in corozo nut.
The shaft is surrounded by a ring made of ivory and leather; the shaft is made
of a spine of a boa.
Profile view of
the pommel. Is it a low bicorne, stylized due to the small size of the corozo
nut or is it a cap?
Saint-Just published, in 1791, a book that
made great loud: "The spirit of the revolution and the constitution." He had
been elected Deputy of the Aisne county in September 1792 and had been admitted
at the Comité de salut public (State security Committee), where he
extended the rights of the commissioners, in 1793.
He will be among the close friends of
Robespierre. Arrested with Robespierre, he will be guillotined in 1794.
Proud'hon and David will leave portraits of
the man who was named the terror archangel. |
